What is Rush?
Rush is a week long process at the beginning of the fall or spring semesters when Tennessee Tech students can visit fraternity houses and find out about joining Greek life. It gives potential new members a chance to find a fraternity they connect with and meet tons of new people along the way. Rush is all about finding the right fit for you, so ask a lot of questions, and make sure to meet as many of the brothers as possible. On the last day of rush, each fraternity invites the guys they like the most to a formal dinner. This last day of rush is called bid night, and after the formal dinner, bids are usually handed out to the guys the fraternity wants to join its chapter. It's possible to get multiple bids from many fraternities, but you can only turn one in. There is a time limit when it comes to turning these in, and once you do, you start the process of joining that fraternity. Rush is a great time to find out more about Greek life and get some free food along the way! We highly recommend rushing to at least see if joining a fraternity is right for you. It may be the best decision you'll make while here at Tennessee Tech!
Why Rush Sigma Alpha Epsilon?
- The only fraternity founded in the Antebellum South that still exists today
- Sigma Alpha Epsilon is the largest North American fraternity with 239 total groups
- More than 26,000 collegiate brothers have graduated from our annual John O. Moseley Leadership School
- There are approximately 200,000 living alumni in the Fraternity
Tradition- TN Delta SAE was one of the first chapters formed here at TN Tech. We were founded on November 22, 1969 from Sigma Phi Delta. These original founders choose SAE out of all national fraternities to colonize with forming our current chapter TN Delta. Our chapter has had three fraternity houses, and the third was recently built at 68 W 5th St.
Leadership- Here at TN Delta we greatly value leadership. There are many opportunities to grow as a leader including the John O. Mosley Leadership School where every year our chapter sends three or four brothers to attend. We also send three or four brothers to the DeVotie Ritual Institute which teaches how to apply the values stated in our ritual in everyday life. There are also many positions that allow you to grow and prove yourself as a leader in the fraternity.
Intramurals- Intramurals in college are a great way to have fun and participate. They give you a chance to be competitive or just have fun playing with your brothers. There are all kinds of sports ranging from football and basketball to soccer and golf. Our chapter has placed first in football the last three years and usually places in the top three overall.
Homecoming- Every Fall alumni and students come together to support the Golden Eagles at homecoming. Our chapter always teams up with a sorority on campus and builds a float for the homecoming parade. There are also other events such as making a homecoming poster to be put in the UC and a field game day. During halftime at the football game the winners of homecoming are announced. We placed first in 2010, 2011, and 2012, second in 2013, and third in 2014.
